Types of Clothes Shops
Bansko has an abundance of clothes shops to suit most tastes and budgets. They are spread out over the whole of the town and you will hard pushed to walk 50 metres without coming across at least one. Ski and snowboard shops can be found from the centre of town, right the way up to the gondola station. You will find all the top brands available including Atomic, Salomon, Rossignol, Burton, North Face and Quicksilver. There is a great selection of products for adults and children, including all the new ranges for the season. Prices are cheaper than in the rest of Europe but for the best deals you will need to shop outside of the season, where you can get some real bargains. Fashion Boutiques are also common, selling many popular brands including Diesel, Von Dutch, Levi, Gola, Adidas and Nike. Again, prices can be very reasonable, but be aware, if the price seems too good to be true, the item is probably an imitation.

Staff
Most staff have a basic level of English and will certainly be able to help you. Be aware that some of them can seem very pushy, perhaps following you around the shop telling you that everything you look at is a ‘good or super price’. Just make it clear that you are just looking and you will ask for help if you need it. The important thing to remember is that most staff members are not employees; they own the shop and just want the best for their business. You can always use this sales tactic to your advantage and negotiate a good discount if you are buying more than one item.

Useful information
All the clothes shops in Bansko are small in size, though they will have at least one changing room. This may mean that you need to visit a number of shops to get everything that you require, but that’s the fun of shopping! Men’s clothes come in a good range of sizes, small to extra large, unfortunately women’s clothes (particularly trousers) tend to only come in smaller sizes, which may mean that those of us that are size 14 and over may have to be content with hats, bags and shoes! Most shops take credit cards but not all of them. A lot of shops take Euros but it is best to take Levs with you to be sure.
