Equipment
As with all major ski resorts there is an abundance of ski and snowboard rental shops. The Gondola station houses the larger of the rental shops, offering everything you will need, with nearly all equipment being brand new for the season. If you require full equipment hire then we would recommend using the piste operators hire facility at the gondola station, as this enables you to get a discount on your lift pass! The main road leading up to the gondola station is also littered with smaller shops offering rentals, if you have the time to shop around these shops can often be cheaper than those in the gondola station.
English is widely spoken by the staff in the shops at the gondola station and they will be glad to help you with any problems you may encounter. Most of the staff in the shops on the main road have a surprisingly good grasp of English, certainly enough to be able to supply you with anything you require from their shop.
At peak times like Christmas and half term, queues for equipment can start to form, especially in the mornings at the weekends. Our advice to those of you travelling at these times is to get there early, you only need to do this once during your stay so set your alarm clock!

Childrens Equipment
The same shops offering equipment hire for adults also offer equipment for children. We would certainly recommend to those of you that are skiing or snowboarding with children for the first time, to get them measured and fitted properly for their equipment. Badly fitting boots can be painful and the wrong size skis or snowboard can make it a lot harder for beginners to learn than it needs to be.
We would also strongly recommend getting safety equipment for your children. Helmets are essential for both skiing and snowboarding, wrist guards are also advisable for any youngsters starting snowboarding for the first time.
