The Resort

The Bansko ski resort is set in the Pirin Mountains on the northern face of the Todorka peak, which stands at a height of 2746m. Known for its excellent snow conditions, long wide tree lined pistes and long season; Bansko has had millions spent on it. Bansko is a modern resort with the latest in gondola, lift and ski pass technology from Dopplemayer, Poma and Ski data. Running from December 15th in to the end of April (sometimes in to May!), Bansko has the longest ski season of all the Bulgarian resorts.

Bansko has 65 km of marked piste, including 7 km of flood lit slopes for night skiing. Consisting of 35% beginner, 40% intermediate and 25% advanced, Bansko has enough to keep all abilities busy. There are 26 km of lifts. The slopes are groomed by 12 Kassbohrer piste bashers, maintaining the pistes in perfect condition. There are around 45 snow cannons spread across the resort, to keep skiing conditions excellent, even with little natural snow or during warmer periods. Situated at the base station of the gondola are a series of large television monitor, these give skiers a visual preview of the mountain at various heights, as well as, weather conditions like wind, cloud or snow.

The resort has fantastic tuition available for all levels, in a wide variety of languages. The entire mountain is covered by the Bulgarian mountain rescue, using the most modern of equipment and all the resort staff are professional, efficient and very friendly.

The town of Bansko is well known for its nightlife and its many, many Mehanas, this makes for great après ski with a different twist to it than other European resorts.
